Faith Christian Academy is committed to providing a loving, supportive environment in which a wide range of subjects is taught and enjoyed. Classroom instruction combines the best of traditional and contemporary teaching methods. Students are involved in many hands-on math and science activities (such as sorting, classifying, predicting, problem solving, and patterning) which enhance their textbook or paper and pencil assignments.
The language arts program in the early grades emphasizes phonetic development and comprehension skills. The Silver-Burdett & Ginn reading series, which is used nationally by both public and private schools, provides the foundation of FCA's reading program. Textbook stories are supplemented by an outstanding collection of classroom reading materials and library holdings. Role playing, dramatizations, and story creation help reading classes come alive.
Science, social studies, and health are taught in thematic units. Field trips and classroom visits by professionals in related fields reinforce skills. A combination of secular materials and Christian based textbooks are used. Students learn to appreciate art and music through special classes each week. Computer skills are introduced in the classroom and refined in the computer lab. Physical fitness, coordination, and team work are the focus of physical education classes.
Bible stories, basic Christian truths, and positive character traits are taught with practical application being made throughout the day.
All curriculum materials are evaluated on the basis of sound scholarship, common sense, and the Word of God.
